Overview

Principal HR Consultant – Executive Search: The City of Oklahoma City is seeking an Assistant Director Development Services. Oklahoma City is the 20th largest city in the nation and serves approximately 702,767 residents in a four (4) county, 621 square mile area. Twenty-two (22) City departments provide a wide array of municipal services and programs.

The new Assistant Director will assist the Development Services Director with the daily oversight of department's operations, to include a budget of $23,635,610 and 190 represented and non-represented employees within the divisions of Development Center, Code Enforcement, and Animal Welfare. This position interacts with the public and elected and appointed officials on matters concerning the department and works with each of the three divisions to improve customer service, professionalism, efficiency, consistency in business practices, and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of the team to meet or exceed the department's “Leading for Results” goals.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary processes.
  • Serve as liaison with the Human Resources Employee and Labor Relations Division regarding employee relations matters.
  • Represent the Director on various boards, committees, and meetings.
  • Analyze and implement departmental productivity improvement measures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Research, prepare, and present reports for the City Council.
  • Determine long-range organization, fiscal, and community impact of departmental changes and decisions.
  • Provide the Director with objective analysis of current legislation impacting departmental activities and City operations.

Qualifications

Candidates shall have a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field, along with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public sector management with an organization of similar size or complexity as the City of Oklahoma City. Possession of International Code Council (ICC) certification is preferred.
