Basic Purpose

The Data Scientist will perform tasks and projects to address the analytical needs of the business. Responsibilities include mining and analyzing complex data sets using statistical methods to support data-driven decision making, improving profitability, efficiencies, and customer experience. The role reports to the Manager of Advanced Analytics and involves using a variety of tools and technologies.

Major Responsibilities

1. Develop deep understanding of Love's business, products, strategy, and customers.
2. Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis to understand customer behavior.
3. Gather requirements and develop models in collaboration with business units.
4. Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
5. Use tools like R, Python, or SAS for data manipulation and insights.
6. Monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
7. Use predictive modeling to enhance customer experiences and business outcomes.
8. Implement A/B testing and assess model quality.
9. Create visualizations and presentations to communicate insights clearly.
10. Support reporting and analytical needs and coordinate with vendors.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in relevant fields like analytics, mathematics, statistics, etc.
• 1-2+ years of experience in retail, sales, marketing, or related fields.
• Experience with data science tools and troubleshooting.

• SQL querying, R/Python proficiency, data wrangling, data visualization (Tableau), understanding of data warehouses.
